Hurricane Season Preparedness
Posted by Ali'i Beach Rentals | Friday, June 14, 2019

Do you know that Hurricane season in Hawaii is from June - November? We always hope for the best but prepare for the worst. So keep reading for some helpful tips to make sure you are prepared this hurricane season.

First things first, did you purchase travel insurance? If you are traveling to Waikiki and are staying in one of our vacation rentals, we always recommend our guests purchase travel insurance through our travel insurance provider, Red Sky. You can visit their website here and read the Sun Trip Preserver Policy Details for more information and make sure you are covered if anything were to happen.

We suggest you make an emergency plan before you leave for your trip, just to be safe, you can never be too prepared. If you are already staying in one of our vacation rentals, and the hurricane is coming towards the Hawaiian Islands, find out where the nearest shelters are in case you need to evacuate. You can download the FEMA app to find a list of shelters near you. Bring all of the lanai furniture inside, do not leave anything outside on the lanai that can blow into and brake the windows, and make sure you have a basic disaster supply kit with water and food and a flashlight or candles. Decide if you need to evacuate or if you are ordered to leave your area, leave immediately. You can read more about evacuation plans here.

Climate change is real, if you don’t believe it, then don’t buy the travel insurance. Remember, it is better to be safe than sorry.
