Annual Floral Parade this Saturday, September 27, 2014 in Waikiki, near Honolulu
Posted by Unknown | Friday, September 26, 2014

This Saturday, September 27, 2014 there will be the annual Floral Parade, which is part of the Aloha Festivals free Oahu activities, in the Waikiki area of Honolulu.  It will start at Ala Moana Beach Park, across from our Ala Moana Hotel vacation rental and end at Kapiolani Park, which is by the Honolulu Zoo.
The parade route goes past almost all of our Waikiki Vacation rental units, and our units at the Royal Kuhio, the Pacific Monarch, the Waikiki Park Heights, and many others, are just a block from the action!

There will be a procession of long skirted women, locally referred to as Pau riders, riding the Hawaiian flower covered horses along the route.  The flowers flow across the neck of the horse and down the front legs in a cascading show of gorgeous fresh blossoms.  There will be Hula Halaus (Hula schools) performing hula dances plus a visit by the Aloha Festivals King, Queen, Prince, and Princess.  Many schools will be bringing their marching bands from both local and mainland high schools.  It's another great family friendly activity, too!

There are still Powerbands, ribbons, and t-shirts for sale which help improve Waikiki for future generations plus you can enter to win lots of prizes including Hawaiian Airlines tickets to Las Vegas and the neighbor islands.  Also being awarded are $250 gift certificates for shopping malls such as Pearlridge center, Ala Moana shopping center, and Waikiki Beach Bucks which can be used at Waikiki Beachwalk shops and restaurants.  That's the shopping area with the free yoga and hula hoop classes!
