Duke Kahanamoku Beach Challenge in Waikiki April 13th, 2014
Posted by Unknown | Monday, April 7, 2014

This weekend is Waikiki Community Center's 29th Annual Duke Kahanamoku Beach Challenge. It will take place on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Duke Kahanamoku Beach and Lagoon next to our vacation rentals at the Ilikai Hotel, the Ilikai Marina, the Waikiki Marina, and just down the street from the Ala Moana Hotel.
The Challenge is a family friendly event for both local residents and visitors alike. It is a great way to learn about ancient Hawaiian culture while having a great time.
Ongoing entertainment will start at 9:00 a.m. with the Royal Hawaiian Band. This is a free activity for spectators watching the races, competition and entertainment, which will include some of Hawaii's top musical artists – Halau Hula `O Nawahine, Te Vai Ura Nui, Darren Benitez, Jake Shimabukuro and Henry Kapono.  You can also grab a bite to eat at the food tents or shop for some souvenirs at the marketplace tents featuring locally made items and crafts.
