Oahu's Beaches - Wakiki to Windward Oahu - know before you go!
Posted by Ali'i Beach Rentals | Friday, April 13, 2018

You've arrived for your Hawaiian vacation, the picnic is packed, the kids are lathered head -to-toe in reef-friendly sunscreen and you are ready to hit the beach?    Which beach?

Oahu boasts 33 beautiful beaches, 29 of which are monitored by lifeguards.   6 are located in Waikiki within walking distance of our Waikiki vacation rentals.   Below are some of our recommended beaches from Waikiki to the Windward side that are top choices.   Need beach gear?   Check out Hawaii Time to rent everything you need for a day at the beach - they will even drop off and pick up at your desired beach location!

For guests staying at the Ilikai Hotel, Ilikia Marina and Ala Moana Hotel, Duke Kahanamoku Beach and Lagoon, Ala Moana Beach and Magic Island Lagoon are all top spots and loved by locals.   In Waikikis' central playground, Waikiki - DukesWaikiki - KuhioWaikiki - QueensWaikiki - Kapiolani Park and Sans Souci are the beaches to be, be seen, relax, swim, learn to surf, SUP and people watch.

For great snorkelling, we recommend a day trip to beautiful Hanauma Bay    Parking is limited here and we recommend taking a tour for easy pick up and drop off from Waikiki.   We love Ike's Hanauma Bay Tours, all the snorkelling gear is included and Ike provides excellent service.

Named best beach in the US in 2016 (by Dr Beach), Waimanalo BeachWaimanalo Bay and Bellows Field Beach are among the best places on Oahu to spend the day.   This long stretch of sandy beach paradise has a lush mountain backdrop and soft waves perfect for boogie boarding.

Kayakers head to Kailua and Lanikai Beach.    Why not stop at Buzz's Steakhouse afterward to re-fuel!   Or if you are seeking more solitude, head further up the windard side to Kualoa Regional Park where there is plenty of room to spread out and enjoy expansive Ocean views.

Remember, Hawaii's ocean and beach conditions are as unique as the islands themselves. This website constantly monitors the surf, wind, and you can quickly assess conditions and help you find the appropriate beach for your visit.   Have fun and stay safe!
