Best view of Diamond Head from a beach side cafe in Waikiki

One of my favorite spots to cool off after a day in the sun on Waikiki Beach is the beach side Mai Tai Bar at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.  It's just a short walk away from our Vacation Rental Units in the Regency on Beachwalk, the Waikiki Shore, and the Waikiki Landmark, to name a few. The tables have large umbrellas to sit under while enjoying the gorgeous views of Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach.
The restaurant serves pizzas, sandwiches, fresh fish, and of course, delicious tropical cocktails such as their namesake Mai Tai. They claim that the Mai Tai was invented here and from my "research" I agree that they make the best Mai Tai in Waikiki.  You can also order a drink made in a hollowed out pineapple, which is kind of fun, even if you are just having a regular lemonade!
Another great thing about this bar is the fact that not many people know about it because the hotel is not visible from Kalakaua Avenue.  It's hidden on the beach side of the Royal Hawaiian Shopping center and the entrance is off of Royal Hawaiian Avenue.  If you are driving in, they offer free validated parking with any purchase in the restaurant or bar.  The circular driveway starts between vintage wrought iron gates with an ancient banyan tree in the center, giving the feeling of having stepped back in time to the Waikiki of the 1930's.  Be sure to check it out while staying with Alii Beach Rentals!
